Well, springtime is here -- and so is the pollen! Spring is always a season of new growth, flowers and your lawn begins to wake up! So it is with volunteering for Community Hospice and Palliative Care, a season of new volunteers coming onboard to help with the growing number of new programs that are being initiated. It is always great to see new volunteers joining those of you have been with us for many years.
This newsletter contains a lot of wonderful things that are happening in the Volunteer Services department for Community Hospice and Palliative Care. If you have a volunteer experience you want to share with us, please email your story to your volunteer coordinator.

On Thursday, April 18, 2019 at 11:15 a.m. at The University of North Florida's Herbert University Center, we are hosting our Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon! We are celebrating 40 years of caring and compassion.
The keynote speaker will be Community Hospice & Palliative Care President and CEO Susan Ponder-Stansel.
Registration will be at 11:15 a.m. You can RSVP now by calling our Volunteer Services Department at 904.407.7063.
The annual Thursday Night Workin’ Man’s Bass Tournament season will start before we know it! The 2019 series begins April 4th and runs through August 29th. Last year the tournament raised $5,000 for Community Hospice & Palliative Care.
Again this year, we need volunteers to help sell 50/50 raffle tickets on Thursday nights. The shift is usually from about 6:00pm-8:30pm depending on sunset time. As we did last year, we’d like volunteers to sign up for one shift per month April-August. If you can’t commit to a monthly shift, we’d still love to have you come out and help on any date you’re available!! By volunteering your time for this fundraiser you are providing vital support to the patients and families we serve. We could not do this without you!
To sign up for a shift or for any questions, please contact Kim Cherry, development assistant, Foundation, at 904.407.6154 or kcherry@communityhospice.com.

As you know, the Pet Peace of Mind program provides an opportunity for you to help assist us with the pet needs of our patients. Since starting this program in 2014, we have provided 236 services for dogs and cats of our patients. We have adopted out 39 dogs and 37 cats during this time period.
Pets waiting to be adopted:
Currently, we have 3 dogs and 3 cats who need new forever homes. If you are interested or know of someone who is interested, please contact Volunteer Coordinator Chris Whitney at 904.470.0688 or email her at cwhitney@communityhospice.com.
You can also head to our Facebook page to take a look at these wonderful animals.
We also wanted to provide a quick Pet Therapy update. Two of our wonderful Pet Therapy animals, Vito and King, are featured on billboards at Atlantic Boulevard and San Pablo Road, Blanding Boulevard and Constitution, and I-10 and Cassat Avenue.
