I hope this message finds you well. As summer draws to a close and the days begin to soften, we find ourselves reflecting on the past months with deep gratitude for the invaluable contributions you’ve made to our hospice community.
Like the lingering warmth of summer, the kindness you share leaves a lasting glow. Volunteers like you are the heart of our organization, and your service ensures that our patients receive the dignity, comfort, and compassion they deserve.
We know your time and energy are precious, and we are deeply thankful for the hours you’ve devoted to helping those in need. Your generosity has made Community Hospice stronger, warmer, and more compassionate.
As we move into a new season, we look forward to continuing this important work together; carrying the light of summer into all that lies ahead.

Construction of the new Dorion Family Pediatric Center for Community PedsCare patients and families, located on the Earl. B Hadlow Campus began on July 7 and is expected to be completed by spring 2026. During this time, the Hadlow Center inpatient unit will be closed, and patients will be cared for in one of our other inpatient units, including Ascension St. Vincent’s Southside. There are no plans to relocate any other departments from the Hadlow Center. If you volunteer for finance, human resources, or other departments based at this location, please continue to do so. Every Thanksgiving, Volunteer Services partners with our Hospice Home Teams to assist our patients and their loved ones with holiday food Boxes. Over the years, we have been fortunate to receive support from volunteers at Merrill Lynch, Bank of America, and Feeding Jacksonville. We have found that most, if not all, the donations are tasty nonperishables that make wonderful Thanksgiving dishes, but we have lost sponsorship for the protein portion of the meal. We are asking for support this year from our volunteers, staff, and community members to help us fill this part of our holiday boxes. As of now, we need roughly 100) $20.00 gift cards to Publix, Winn-Dixie, or Walmart to help us support the protein portion of our Thanksgiving boxes for our patients. Any help would be greatly appreciated. If you are interested in more information, would like to contribute, or would like to provide a gift card, please contact Lenee Savage at LSavage@communityhsopice.com or 904.407.5903.
