Grieving the death of a loved one is difficult, especially for a child. Grieving children are likely to feel different and alone. Recognizing the need to help children through the grieving process, Community Hospice & Palliative Care established Camp Healing Powers, a therapeutic camp open to any child ages 7 to 17 who is grieving the death of a loved one.
Camp activities are structured to help children identify and express their feelings while learning skills to help them navigate their grief journey in a safe, supportive, and fun environment. These activities are planned and led by mental health professionals who specialize in grief and bereavement.
Space is limited. Please call (904) 407-7001 for information or to schedule an appointment for a pre-camp assessment.
Early 2024 1-Day Camp:
Saturday, January 27, 2023
Pre-camp assessments are conducted by Community Hospice & Palliative Care bereavement counselors who meet with the parent/guardian and the child to learn about the child's reaction to the loss, the impact it has had on them, and how they are coping.
All camps are held at the Marywood Retreat and Conference Center: 235 Marywood Dr, St Johns, FL 32259.
Located in northern St. Johns County, approximately four miles south of the I-295 West Beltway on State Road 13.
