Jacksonville, FL (Dec. 18, 2018) – When innovation meets outstanding community support, a partnership like Community PedsCare teaming up with THE PLAYERS Championship is the winning result.

A longstanding supporter of Community PedsCare, a program of Community Hospice & Palliative Care, THE PLAYERS recently presented children and families in the program with hundreds of holiday gifts. Since its inception in 2000, for nearly half of Community Hospice’s 40-year legacy, Community PedsCare has been providing comfort and care to enhance the quality of life for patients from prenatal (before birth) to age 21. The program supports the specialized needs and medical care of the child, their parents and siblings, other family members, caregivers, classmates and teachers.

Thanks to the ongoing generosity of business supporters like THE PLAYERS, Community PedsCare is positioned to continue providing compassionate care to children and families in the communities of Northeast Florida. This past October, THE PLAYERS was also the presenting sponsor of Community Hospice’s biggest fundraiser of the year, Halloween Doors & More, which benefits the Community PedsCare program.  Every year, THE PLAYERS hosts children and families from Wolfson Children’s Hospital and Community PedsCare for a fun-filled day at the tournament.

“Our program, it is all about the gift of giving. Each of us holds a very important part of our program’s success and without the vital resources our donors and partners provide, we could not bring this necessary service to our community,” said Director of Community PedsCare Patrice Austin. “It takes a village, and I believe we all have our hands in the care of our community children. I smile with deep joy as the love and energy shared with our program will brighten this holiday moment for so many. Thank you truly, from our hearts!”

“Each year the PGA TOUR staff personally shops for and provides Christmas gifts for hundreds of children in Northeast Florida,” said Jared Rice, executive director of THE PLAYERS.  “We’re pleased to support Community PedsCare through this TOUR-wide initiative this holiday season. Giving back is at the heart of the PGA TOUR and THE PLAYERS, and there is no better time than the holidays to put this into action, especially in our local community.”

Through continuing community partnerships such as Wolfson’s Children’s Hospital, Nemours Children's Specialty Care and the University of Florida-Jacksonville, Community PedsCare offers palliative care for children with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions, along with hospice care for children and their families who seek to focus on life and living. The Community PedsCare team surrounds families and children with support and provides guidance to navigate the steps ahead so they can reach for comfort and quality.
