Get Support: What grief and bereavement counseling is available and who is it for? If you or someone you know has experienced the death of a loved one, the support of others can play an invaluable role in the healing process. Community Hospice licensed mental health professionals offer individual and family counseling sessions at no charge to family members and caregivers who have lost a loved one through our program for a minimum of 13 months following the death. Additionally, for patient family members, caregivers and members of our community who have lost loved ones, Community Hospice offers generalized and specialized therapeutic support groups, as well as bereavement literature. Community-wide educational workshops, children's grief camps and Services of Remembrance (memorial services) also are held throughout the year. Bereavement Support Groups. Through Community Hospice’s Charles M. Neviaser Educational Institute, we offer specialized therapeutic support groups designed to help the bereaved identify ways to cope with the death they have experienced. The eight-session groups will cover common grief reactions, coping strategies and staying connected to your loved one. Community Grief. Professional bereavement services are available to all members of the community. Services are available at no charge to families of Community Hospice patients who have died in our program. Cost to community members whose loved one was not a Community Hospice patient is: $75 for individual and family counseling $100 for support groups These fees may be adjusted based on ability to pay. Support group costs cover assessment and sessions. Camp Healing Powers: Special Care for Bereaved Children. Young people coping with the death of a loved one gather for a healing, reassuring weekend at Community Hospice's Camp Healing Powers. Designed and produced by staff bereavement specialists, Camp Healing Powers creates a safe, secure environment for grieving children between the ages of seven and 17. A variety of supervised activities help young people remember those who have died, acknowledge their sadness or pain, and take steps toward reconciliation and renewal. Community Hospice of Northeast Florida and Hardage-Giddens, a Dignity Memorial provider, hold several services throughout the year to celebrate and honor the memory of those you have lost. Please join us for a spiritual program of liturgy, music and candlelight. Anyone in Northeast Florida who has experienced a loss is invited to attend and bring a picture or memento of your loved one to display on a Memory Table.
