Get Support: Community Hospice focuses its support on the whole family. Community Hospice of Northeast Florida recognizes that a serious illness impacts the entire family as well as the person who is ill. In fact, family members sometimes need as much attention and support as the patient. That's why the patient and family are viewed as one unit and the whole family becomes the focus of our care. This is one of the unique aspects of Community Hospice care compared with other health care options. And when we say "family," we are referring to the relatives and/or other significantly important persons who provide psychological, emotional, and spiritual support to the patient. "Family" need not be blood relatives to be an integral part of the Community Hospice care plan. Community Hospice is taking a leading role in helping local family caregivers get help, as a founding member of the Caregiver Coalition of Northeast Florida. The Caregiver Coalition sponsors workshops and a monthly e-newsletter, which connect caregivers to community resources and help them provide excellent care, for their loved ones and themselves.
