Community Hospice Announces New Board Members

JACKSONVILLE, Florida – Community Hospice of Northeast Florida announces the following additions to its Board of Directors:

Fernando Acosta-Rua is a partner with L & L Capital Partners, LLC, a private equity investment and corporate finance group. He has 15 years' experience in investment management and has focused the last seven of those years in private equity/venture capital. Prior to joining L & L Capital Partners, Mr. Acosta-Rua served as vice president at FondElec Capital Advisors, LLC, a private equity fund manager with $250 million in capital under his management. He holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Florida and a master's degree from Northwestern University Kellogg School of Management. Acosta-Rua serves on the nonprofit board of directors for several organizations, including Community Hospice of Northeast Florida, Community Hospice Foundation, Acosta-Rua Family Foundation, Catholic Foundation and Housing Partnership. He is also a director for American Pet Resorts, an upscale pet boarding business headquartered in Ponte Vedra Beach. Acosta-Rua and his family live in Ortega.

Elizabeth "Betty" Crosby is the owner of St. Augustine-based wedding consulting firm Elegant Events. She is also an algebra teacher at St. Johns River Community College. Mrs. Crosby serves on the board of directors for several organizations, including Community Hospice of Northeast Florida, Flagler Hospital Foundation, Memorial Presbyterian Church and Woman's Exchange of St. Augustine. She is active in the St. Augustine Rotary Club and Junior Service League. Crosby is a retired high school math teacher, and she makes her home in St. Augustine.

Joseph Mitrick, FACHE, is the administrator of Baptist Medical Center Downtown. He also serves on the board of directors for Community Hospice of Northeast Florida, Health America Credit Union and Northeast Florida Center for Community and Justice. Mr. Mitrick is an assistant chairman for First Aid Services at the Players' Championship and is a past chairman of the Jacksonville Regional Chamber of Commerce Beaches Division. Mitrick and his family reside in Atlantic Beach.

Duane Ottenstroer is a private investor. Mr. Ottenstroer also co-founded The Unit Companies, a national leader in warehousing and logistics services. Ottenstroer serves on the board of directors for The Community Foundation, Community Hospice Foundation, Jacksonville University, and the University of Minnesota Carlson School of Management. In 1999, Governor Jeb Bush appointed Ottenstroer to the St. Johns River Water Management District's governing board. In 2001, he was appointed to the Florida Prepaid College Board. Ottenstroer and his family reside in northern St. Johns County.

Established in 1979 as the first hospice program in northeast Florida, Community Hospice of Northeast Florida provides compassionate care to nearly 1,000 patients daily in Baker, Clay, Duval, Nassau and St. Johns counties, through the support of more than 700 employees and 1,100 volunteers. The nonprofit organization has served more than 38,000 children and adults—at home, in long-term care facilities, hospitals and through its two inpatient facilities in Jacksonville. Community Hospice Foundation generates philanthropic and community support for unfunded and under-funded programs, including indigent hospice care, programs and services through the Charles M. Neviaser Educational Institute, and Community PedsCare, a pediatric palliative and hospice program. Care is available to all patients who need it, regardless of their ability to pay.
