Latest News: Community Hospice Names New Slate of Officers JACKSONVILLE, Florida – Community Hospice of Northeast Florida's Board of Directors recently named its new slate of officers for fiscal year 2006. Lawrence A. Solberg, Jr., Ph.D., M.D. of Mayo Clinic's Division of Hematology/Oncology will chair the board. Vice chairs include Larry J. Freeman, administrator of Wolfson Children's Hospital and Scott S. Cairns, J.D., partner, McGuireWoods, L.L.P. Rounding out the slate of officers are Gene Lewis, R.N., one of the founders of Community Hospice, who will serve as secretary and James R. Burkhart, president and administrator of Shands Jacksonville Medical Center, who will serve as the treasurer. Established in 1979, Community Hospice of Northeast Florida has served more than 38,000 children and adults at home, in long-term care facilities, hospitals and through its two inpatient facilities in Jacksonville. The Community Hospice Foundation provides funding for unfunded and under-funded programs, including indigent hospice care, the programs and services through the Charles M. Neviaser Educational Institute and Community PedsCare. The nonprofit organization currently has more than 700 employees providing compassionate care to more than 950 patients daily in Baker, Clay, Duval, Nassau and St. Johns counties. # # # Contact: Lynn Robbins
