Community Hospice Pet Therapy Dogs Featured in New 2010 Calendar

Jacksonville, Fla. Community Hospice of Northeast Florida® has the perfect holiday gift for dog lovers — the 2010 Community Hospice Volunteer Pet Therapy Calendar.

This year’s calendar contains full color photographs of 16 of the 51 active pet therapy teams and provides “personal information” about each dog. Some of the breeds featured include Scottish terriers, standard poodles, Akita, Shih Tzu’s, Labrador retrievers, Siberian huskies and more. The calendars are available at a cost of $15 each, or two for $20. Proceeds from the calendar benefit the patients and families of Community Hospice.

Pet therapy dogs and their owners have played an important part of the Community Hospice care team since 1996. Pet therapy is used to provide psychological benefits such as stress reduction and decreased feelings of loneliness or isolation for patients. The pet therapy teams visit patients in their homes, in long-term care facilities and at Community Hospice inpatient care centers.

Pet Paradise, a full-service pet boarding “resort” for dogs and cats and the sponsor of the Community Hospice pet therapy program, has included monthly coupons in the 2010 calendar that provide discounts for a variety of services available at their three Northeast Florida locations.

“We are proud to sponsor the Community Hospice’s pet therapy program and the 2010 calendar,” explains Fred Goldsmith, CEO of Pet Paradise. “This calendar raises awareness and funding for the pet therapy program and allows people to understand the important role that these pets serve, making a significant difference in the lives of the patients at the Community Hospice.”

To order a 2010 Community Hospice Pet Therapy Calendar call Chris Whitney at 904.407.7063 or visit communityhospice.com. For more information about Pet Paradise visit www.petparadiseresort.com
