See the “Under the Sea” Adventure at the

Fifth Annual Halloween Doors & More

Family Fun Gala Benefiting Community PedsCare® is

Thursday, October 15th and Saturday, October 17th

Jacksonville, Fla. - Halloween Doors & More celebrates its 5th anniversary by adding new adventures and another night of fun and fundraising.  The “Under the Sea Adventure” is a new addition to the family fun event and the Sneak-Peek Preview Party, for grown-ups only -- will highlight the much anticipated fifth annual Halloween Doors & More.  Both events will take place at the Jacksonville Fairgrounds Exhibition Hall.  As in years past, Halloween Doors & More will feature trick-or-treating for toys at larger-than-life doors, live theatre, the Monster Mash family disco and a smorgasbord of kid-friendly foods. But this year, attendees also will have the opportunity to sample ice cream floats at the 1950s-style Witches Brew diner or swim “Under the Sea” with mermaids.  Grown-ups also will have the chance to see the event “under construction” and enjoy top-rate entertainment in a cocktail party setting at the Sneak-Peek Preview Party.  This family-centered event will raise funds and awareness for Community PedsCare the pediatric palliative and hospice care program of Community Hospice of Northeast Florida

Tickets are available by calling 904.886.3883 or by visiting communityhospice.com/hdm.  Tickets for the Sneak-Peek Preview Party are $40 per person and the ticket price for Halloween Doors & More are $100 per adult and $50 per child age 12 to 2.  Children under the age of two are admitted for free. Tickets sell out each year, so getting them early is advised.

Halloween Doors & More is a unique, fun and festive (not scary or spooky) event.  Children trick-or-treat at 14-feet-high and eight-feet-wide Fantasy Doors where they can meet the likes of the “Old Woman Who Lived in a Shoe” and many more storybook friends.  No Halloween party would be complete without a trip to Candyland, where children may fill their goodie bags from a selection of thousands of pieces of wrapped candy.  The Trick-or-Treat Theatre features live stage performances for all to enjoy, and let’s not forget dancing in the Monster Mash Family Disco!

The event is organized by a committee of dedicated volunteers. Ansley Blakely and Paige Robbins are serving as Co-Chairs for the 2009 Halloween Doors & More, with the McGriff Family as Honorary Chairs.  Sponsors this year include: The Arnold Family, AT&T, The Bower Family, CBS 47, Dubow Family Foundation, Tabitha and Jim Furyk, Gator Country 99.9, Mercedes-Benz USA, Mezza Luna Restaurant, Nemours Children’s Clinic, The Petway Family Foundation, PGA TOUR, PGA TOUR Wives Association, Inc., PRI Productions, Linda and David Stein, Stellar Foundation, Dannehl and Kevin Twomey, UBS, University of Florida/Jacksonville Pediatrics and Wolfson Children’s Hospital.  Sponsorships are still available.
