Latest News: Community Hospice Announces New Board Members Jacksonville, Fla. - Community Hospice of Northeast Florida announces the addition of four new members to its board of directors: Christopher Emans, The Honorable Marcia Morales Howard, Kelly Miles, and Paula Ringhaver.
Christopher Emans is chief financial officer (CFO) for Zurich Insurance Services, Inc. Hired as vice president of administration for Zurich in 1985, Emans was promoted to CFO in 1988.
His educational background includes attending the Reading College of Technology in Reading, England, where he achieved an Ordinary National Certificate (ONC) with distinction in Business Studies. Certified by the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy, he also attended the West London Institute of Higher Education in England. In the United States, Emans received Series 7 certification from the National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD).
In addition to serving on the Community Hospice board, Emans also volunteers his time as a board member for the Deerwood Rotary Club. He was previously a Cerebral Palsy of Jacksonville board member. He resides on the Southside.
The Honorable Marcia Morales Howard is a United States District Judge for the Middle District of Florida. Prior to her appointment, she served as a U.S. Magistrate Judge in the Jacksonville Division. Judge Howard received her Bachelor of Science degree from Vanderbilt University and her Juris Doctor from the University of Florida, College of Law. While in law school, she was elected to the Order of the Coif and also served as the symposium editor for the Florida Law Review.
Judge Howard practiced as a civil litigator concentrating in Labor and Employment Law. While in private practice, she was a member of the Florida Bar, the American Bar Association and the National Association of Railroad Trial Counsel.
Her community involvement has included serving on the boards of the Jacksonville Transportation Authority, the Jacksonville Human Rights Commission, the National Conference for Community and Justice, OneJax, the Girl Scouts of Gateway Council, TheatreWorks and the American Cancer Society’s Duval County Unit Advisory Board.
Judge Howard and her family live in Jacksonville. Kelly Miles, RN, MSN currently serves as vice president and chief nursing officer for Shands Jacksonville. She has been a registered nurse for more than 20 years and has specialized in the areas of utilization review, case management, performance improvement and contract negotiations. Miles obtained her associate and bachelor’s of science in nursing degrees from Belmont College in Nashville, Tennessee. She also holds a nurse paralegal diploma from Kaplan College in Boca Raton, Florida, and her master’s degree in nursing from the University of Phoenix. She is a regional director for the Florida Organization of Nurse Executives (FONE). She lives in Nassau County with her husband, Michael Miles. For more than 25 years, Paula Ringhaver has served as an interior design consultant for Ring Power Corporation in St. Augustine, Florida. She also holds a certification in dental assisting from Florida Community College of Jacksonville. Ringhaver is passionate about helping other organizations. She is a board member of No More Homeless Pets and Dreams Come True, and served as past board member of the Otis Smith Foundation and committee member of the St. Augustine Cancer Society. She lives in St. Augustine with her husband, Randal Ringhaver, chairman and president of Ring Power Corporation.
