Community Hospice Names Ronna Richard Director of Homecare Services

JACKSONVILLE, Florida - Community Hospice of Northeast Florida has hired Ronna Richard as director of home care services.

Under the guidance of the chief of patient care operations, Richard directs the interdisciplinary teams that provide quality hospice services to patients in the home setting for the nonprofit organization.

Richard has spent more than a decade in the health care services industry, including the past three years overseeing end-of-life care as director of inpatient, respite and continuous home care services for Hospice Care of South Carolina in Spartanburg.  Previously, she worked as a charge nurse in the emergency trauma centers of Greenville Memorial Hospital and Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

Richard’s background also includes assisting in the development and implementation of Hospice Care of South Carolina’s palliative care program in acute and long term care facilities and within the community.

According to Kathy Johnson, chief of patient care operations for Community Hospice, “Ronna’s knowledge and experience with hospice care, as well as her dedication to patient-centered service, will further enhance our organization.   I am confident that under her leadership, our teams will continue to deliver the highest level of compassionate, quality care to our in-home patients.”

A certified hospice and palliative care nurse (CHPN), Richard received her bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Phoenix in Phoenix, Arizona and her associate’s degree in nursing from Regents College in Albany, New York.  She will receive her master’s degrees in nursing and in healthcare administration from the University of Phoenix in May of this year.

Richard is an Ohio native and lives in Orange Park with her husband, daughter and son.

Established in 1979 as the first hospice program in Northeast Florida, Community Hospice of Northeast Florida helps nearly 1,000 patients live better with advanced illness each day in Baker, Clay, Duval, Nassau and St. Johns counties, through the support of more than 700 employees and nearly 900 volunteers. The nonprofit organization has served more than 48,000 children and adults—at home, in long term care facilities, hospitals and through four inpatient centers throughout Jacksonville. Community Hospice Foundation generates philanthropic and community support for unfunded and under-funded programs, including indigent hospice care, Community PedsCare, a pediatric palliative and hospice program, and the programs and services of the Charles M. Neviaser Educational Institute. Care is available to all patients who need it, regardless of their ability to pay.
