When Is it Time for Hospice Care?

Families often tell us they wish they had contacted us sooner.

A common misconception about hospice is that it is "a last resort" and that a person must be bedridden or unable to communicate in order to receive help. Nothing could be further from the truth. Hospice care is appropriate for those who have a limited prognosis of 12 months or less (6 months for Medicare eligibility).

While illness can affect how a person lives his or her life, much can be done to improve physical comfort and well-being. We are committed to helping you make the most of every day. Many people receiving our care continue to enjoy social and recreational activities that are meaningful to them. We help people remain as mobile, alert and engaged for as long as their conditions will allow.

Soon after a diagnosis of a life-limiting illness, you and your family should consider all your care options so you are better able to make fully informed decisions. The earlier we become involved, the greater the benefits to you and your family.
