When to call Community Hospice
Call the
24/7 Patient Priority Line — 904.407.7300 — immediately, any time day or night, if you or your loved one experiences any of the following:
- Complains or displays signs of pain: frowning, moaning, groaning during movement or when still, refusing to move, refusing a bath, crying. For children, this also can include intense concentration on a game, book or TV show, or withdrawal from people and activities.
- Sleeping a lot.
- Unable to sleep at all.
- Sudden confusion.
- Changes in attitude: suddenly angry or withdrawn or sad, increased irritability and/or belligerent behavior
- Suddenly unaware of surroundings.
- Inability to recognize familiar people.
- Becomes agitated.
- Inability to be comforted.
- Changes in bladder or bowel function.
- Limbs that look different.
- Dressings that have come off.
- Sudden loss of sight or hearing.
- Changes in breathing.
- Falls or injuries.
- Unexpected bleeding.
- Vomiting more than once in an eight-hour period.
- Sore mouth or difficulty swallowing.
- Catheter problem.
- Sudden elevation in temperature.
- Talks about “ending it all.”
- Expresses anger toward God, caregivers or those around them.
