To become a Community Hospice volunteer: Complete and return application online A reference check is conducted. You are interviewed. Background check is conducted. Your orientation and training is scheduled. You will be assigned to your new volunteer responsibility.

Training Information for Community Hospice volunteers:

The amount and type of training varies depending on the area of volunteer service that interests you.

All volunteers receive training covering pain and symptom management, infectious diseases, standard healthcare precautions, family dynamics, spirituality and the role of the volunteer in hospice care. Additional specialized training is provided for all volunteers who have direct patient contact.

Note: Potential volunteers who have experienced the death of a loved one within the last 12 months are encouraged to participate in volunteer activities other than public outreach and patient/family interaction to allow time for personal grief needs. The other volunteer opportunities within Community Hospice may be explored.
