Why Volunteer for Community Hospice?
Enrich your life, make a difference
Volunteer for Community Hospice!
Community Hospice volunteers are vital members of our team — whether you offer companionship and a listening ear to patients and family members, help with clerical work at one of our office locations, or assist at fundraising events. At Community Hospice, there’s a volunteer opportunity for everyone!
Community Hospice volunteers are diverse and special members of our community. Our Volunteer Services department works closely with all volunteers to make sure that their talents and skills are matched with current needs in the best way possible.
When you apply to join our volunteer team, you will have a one-on-one meeting with one of our Volunteer Services staff before choosing which volunteer opportunity is most comfortable and right for you. Background checks are conducted on all volunteers.
Here are some of the ways you can help improve the quality of life for people in our community as a Community Hospice volunteer:
Volunteer Opportunities
- Direct Patient Care Opportunities - Patient/Family Support
Visit our patients in their homes, in long term care or assisted living facilities, or at one of our five Community Hospice inpatient care centers. You may choose to spend quality time reading, taking walks, writing letters or simply enjoying conversations with patients. Volunteers give family caregivers an opportunity to run personal errands or take some quality respite time away from their day-to-day duties. Patient visits usually last two hours or less. Specialized training is provided.
- Administrative Opportunities
Volunteers are needed to assist with administrative duties and special project work. Those with clerical skills and interests can assist with filing, data entry, greeting visitors at the reception desk at one of our five inpatient care centers, or helping at the Community Hospice Thrift Shops.
Volunteer administrative opportunities are available throughout our five-county service area.
- Public Outreach Opportunities
- Special Events Opportunities - Fundraising
Volunteers can assist with a variety of events designed to support the efforts of Community Hospice financially.
Companies and service groups contribute to Community Hospice through the Community Partners program. Participants agree to launch a short-term commitment that could benefit our patients and their families in a variety of ways.
For example, Community Partners can provide holiday food baskets for patients and families in need; decorate patient’s rooms; sponsor a toy drive; or plan birthday or holiday parties for Community PedsCare patients.
