- Community Hospice Foundation Signature Events
- Kelsi Young Gift of Care Luncheon
The Kelsi Leah Young Respite Care Fund was established in February 2008 for the purpose of providing respite care to the families in the Community PedsCare program. Kelsi Leah Young (January 28, 2005 – December 1, 2005) was a patient in the Community PedsCare program. She was a beautiful, smiling little girl who touched the lives of many during her brief life. Kelsi’s parents, Leslie and Brian Young, along with family and friends, have established this fund in her memory. The Kelsi Young Gift of Care Luncheon was created in 2009 to increase awareness and support for the Kelsi Leah Young Respite Care Fund.
- Monster Mash 5K Dash
Formerly the Community PedsCare Heart & Sole 5K, the Monster Mash 5K Dash raises awareness and funds for children with life-limiting and life-threatening diseases, and honors all the families whose lives have been touched by the Community PedsCare program.
- Halloween Doors & More
Halloween Doors & More, a family-centered event, is a gala of a different sort. It is packed full of activities and attractions for children and parents alike. Highlights of the unique event include trick-or-treating at six fantasy doors; character signings and appearances; jammin’ tunes at the Goblin Gallop Disco; amazing acts and performances at the Trick-or-Treat Theatre; a gourmet food court; a goody-packed Candyland; and lots more. There’s even a Ghostbusters Grotto for adults to hang out, complete with cocktails and refreshments.
- Far East Brokers End-of-Season Sale
Each November, Far East Brokers opens its wholesale showroom to the public. Shoppers save up to 30 percent off wholesale prices on new children's toys, dinnerware, housewares, craft items, seasonal decorations, lawn/garden products and outdoor furniture — while supporting end-of-life care on the First Coast.
- Tree of Life
In early December of each year, Community Hospice presents trees decorated with memorial ribbons and lights at the Earl B. Hadlow Center for Caring. The grounds glow with lights to represent the lives of all the people Community Hospice has cared for through the years.
The lighting of the Tree of Life also includes a special Candlelight Service of Remembrance to celebrate the lives of loved ones who have died. Attendees are invited to bring a photo of their loved one to display on the memory tables.
Free and open to the public, the evening’s festivities feature refreshments, carriage rides and holiday entertainment. Ribbons are purchased for $25 and up, with all proceeds benefiting Community Hospice.
