Community Hospice also provides resources for veterans. Community Hospice Veterans Partnership (CHVP) is a coalition comprised of individuals from Community Hospice, the Department of Veterans Affairs facilities, veterans, local navy personnel, community organizations, corporations and others working to ensure that excellent end-of-life care is available to veterans living in our community. Through the generous contributions of community supporters and by Allied Veterans of the World, Inc. & Affiliates, CHVP initiatives include outreach to veterans service groups.
The Veterans History Project was launched as an initiative of the CHVP. The project, a partnership with the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress, collects and archives personal recollections of U.S. wartime veterans who live in Northeast Florida to honor their service and share their stories with current and future generations. The stories will become a permanent collection of the Library of Congress. In addition, the Veterans History Project First Coast will host the oral histories on its Web site for researchers, students, friends and family to hear and experience. Visit the Web site at VHPFirstCoast.org.
